The 63rd General Session of the Amahator Village Students’ Union (AVSU) was held under the inspiring theme “Embracing Cultural Identity in Christ,” {Palu Liliyah Müinü Khrista Chah Liba). The event drew thousands of citizens from across the region, who gathered to honor the cultural guest and participate in a vibrant celebration of Sangtam heritage through traditional games, folk dances, and songs.
The session was graced by Sethrichum Sangtam, founder of the Better Life Foundation and a LEAD India Fellow, He was also accompanied by Kipitong Sangtam Vice President United Sangtam Likhüm pümji, whose presence provided significant boost and support to the students community of Amahator village.
Cultural guest, Sethrichem Sangtam advocated for preservation of the rich Sangtam traditions and culture. He emphasized that students, as the builders of tomorrow, must take proactive initiatives to safeguard this invaluable heritage. Expanding on opportunities beyond academia, he encouraged the youth to explore employment in not only government sectors but also private and entrepreneurial fields, urging a broader focus on self-reliance and innovation.
Sangtam also highlighted the critical issue of environmental protection, calling on the citizens of Amahator to prioritize this area. He pointed out the village’s abundant potential in eco-tourism, stressing the need for collaborative attention from both the public and government to harness and sustain these natural resources.
During the cultural program, T Kirithong Sangtam, Chairman of the OTC and a prominent public leader, addressed the gathering. He reflected on the progress of Amahator Village, noting that it has come a long way since his time and that the current student community is far ahead in adapting to modern challenges. He praised the inherent honesty of Amahator citizens across all fields and tasked the students with carrying forward this legacy. Observing ongoing changes and positive movements in the village, he encouraged the student community to continue their commendable efforts.

Hopise Sangtam, President of the Amahator Union Kiphire Town (AUKT), also spoke at the event. He expressed gratitude to the Cultural Guest for traveling great distances to attend and contribute to the betterment of the students. Echoing the theme, he urged the youth to preserve Sangtam traditions and culture, reminding them that their parents would not be around forever and that it is the responsibility of the younger generation to document and maintain these rich practice.

Additional speakers included Yangseki, Head GB of Amahator Town and Lithrongpa Sangtam, President ARSU, who shared insights aligned with the session’s focus on cultural identity and community progress.
Rili Sangtam, Vice President of the AVSU, also addressed the gathering. He extended sincere thanks to each individual, leader, and supporter for their unwavering assistance to the AVSU in all aspects whenever needed, acknowledging their vital role in the union’s success and growth.
In his remarks, Hotsali Sangtam, President of the AVSU, extended thanks to the Cultural Guest for making the long journey to support the students. He also acknowledged the Amahator Union Kiphire for their participation, which provided a significant boost to the student community.
The session culminated in a lively display of cultural activities, including various traditional games and performances of folk dances and songs, fostering a sense of unity and pride among attendees.
