The 7-A-Side Men’s Open Futsal Tournament organised by the Youth Department of Christian Revival Church (CRC), AG road, Kohima kicked off today at L. Viluo FIFA Pro Turf, Vilietsa, Meriema.
The 1st day of the championship began with an inaugural ceremony graced by Vibeilietuo Kets, Special Assistant to Chief Minister of Nagaland as the special guest.

Addressing the gathering, Kets encouraged the sportspersons to pursue their sporting dreams by working hard and following the discipline and guidelines of the games. He said to become a professional sportsman, the sportsperson must follow three disciplines in life and follow accordingly.
The priority should focus on maintaining health by doing exercise, sleeping for at least 7 hours and maintaining a balanced diet.
Kets also advised the sportspersons to focus and excel in one particular field of sports. He said that the Futsal game is gaining popularity in Nagaland, especially in Kohima. He, therefore, challenged the sportspersons to be hardworking and focus on the Futsal game as there will be more opportunities in the days to come. He was optimistic that national and international players would be produced from this Astro Turf and thanked Late L. Viluo’s clans for the construction of top-quality Astro Turf.
The champion will receive a cash prize of Rs. 40,000 while the runner-up will get Rs. 20,000; semi-finalists will be awarded with Rs. 5000 each; Player of the tournament Rs.3000 and best goalkeeper Rs. 3000
It has been informed that altogether, 16 teams registered in the tournament and it will continue till September 2.
