Wokha District commemorated the 75th Republic Day with Minister for Power & Parliamentary Affairs, K G Kenye, gracing the ceremonial event at Local Ground, Wokha on Friday.
Kenye unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute, followed by inspection of the parade and the delivery of Republic Day speech.
Parade Commander Sangthing Khiam, NPS, SDPO Wokha and Parade 2 i/c ABI Nzanthung Lotha 7th NAP led the diverse contingents consisting Parade CHM, DEF Wokha, 7th NAP, H/G, Ex-Servicemen, NCC Mt Tiyi College, Bharat Scout & Guide and Band Party Fernbrook School. The parade review was done by Additional SP Wokha.

Highlights of the event included cultural performance adorned with folk song presented by Wokha Town Longsa Cultural Troupe and Folk Dance presented by Liosangsu Cultural Troupe, Wokha Village.
After the conclusion of the ceremonial event, Minister K.G Kenye inaugurated the stalls put up by various departments, NGOs, Self-help groups. After which a delightful lunch was hosted at the Deputy Commissioner’s official residence.
A cricket exhibition match was also played between DC 11 and Wokha District Cricket Association.
SANIS
At Sanis, the celebration was graced by Advisor for CAWD & Taxes, Kudecho Khamo at GHS Ground, Sanis Town. The Minister unfurled the National Flag, followed by the Rashtriya Salute, National Anthem and the Republic Day speech.
Altogether three parade contingents- 14 NAP (IR) C COY, St. Paul School, Sanis, Don Bosco School, Lakhuti took part in the March Past. The contingents were led by Parade Commander ABSI Y. Benthungo Shitiri, 14th NAP (IR) C COY and 2nd Commander Naik Nzanbemo Lotha, DEF Wokha.
Special presentation was presented by Women Cultural Troupe, Sanis Village followed by Inauguration of stalls by the Chief Guest.
