7th Annual Sports Week of MGM College begins

MGM College, an institution known for its commitment to academic and extracurricular excellence, inaugurated its 7th Annual Sports Week on February 12 with great enthusiasm. The grand opening ceremony witnessed the presence of the Principal, Administrator, faculty, staff, and students, all coming together to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and unity. The event commenced with the torch-bearing ceremony, led by Heralal and Limeka, symbolizing the ignition of passion and dedication towards sports. This was followed by an invocation prayer led by Luthokhi, President of the Evangelical Union (EU), seeking blessings for a successful and fair competition.

The General Secretary, Pongshing, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, setting the tone for an energetic and memorable event. A key highlight of the event was the flag hoisting and inaugural speech by Fr. Giju George, Administrator of MGM College. In his address, he emphasized the importance of sports in holistic education, encouraging students to embrace both victory and defeat with grace.

The oath-taking ceremony, led by Mihlei, the Sports Secretary, reinforced the values of integrity, discipline, and sportsmanship among the participants. The opening event concluded with a benediction prayer by Nikaho, Vice President of the EU, seeking divine guidance throughout the sports week.

The first day was dedicated to indoor games, while the subsequent three days focused on exciting outdoor events. The competition was fiercely contested among four houses—Yellow (Athena), Red (Ares), Blue (Poseidon), and Green (Medusa)—actively engaging students in a dynamic contest.

After an exhilarating series of events, Red House emerged as the undeniable overall champion. With the sports flame ignited and the spirit of competition soaring high, MGM College now embarks on a week-long journey of thrilling sporting events, teamwork, and camaraderie.
