87% usually working females in Nagaland’s rural areas are self-employed: PLFS 2022-23

New Delhi: 12.3% working females are employed in the regular wage / salary category

86.8% of usually working females (ps+ss) by broad status in employment in rural areas of Nagaland, the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), 2022-23 has revealed, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Rao Inderjit Singh informed in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on 22nd July 2024.

12.3% usually working females are employed in the regular wage / salary category while 0.9% are involved in casual labour, Singh’s reply also stated.

The National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, has been conducting Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) since 2017 to measure the employment and unemployment situation in India. In this survey, the percentage of women entrepreneurs in rural areas is not estimated.
