The 8th General Conference of Poumai Naga Naotumai Me (PNNM) was inaugurated on February 16 by Losii Dikho, Deputy Chief Minister, Manipur as the chief guest and R.B. Pani, President, Poumai Naga Union as the Presiding Officer at district headquarters, Senapati.
Established in the year 1987, the event was held under the theme, “Ignite your sparkle” with Joshila Sharma Pou, wife of Radheshyam Singh, MLA, 33-Heirok AC as the chief host and L.S. Champa, wife of Lt. L.S. John, Ex-Minister as the chief patron respectively, informed a press release.
In her welcome address, P. Louniiru, Advisor to the women body lauded the chief guest for his generous services for the upliftment of the society are remarkable by his kind presence with the aim of service to humanity is service to God. Louniiru urged “the gathering to remember him in prayer to make him more prosperous even in future”. With the commencement of the event, the advisor urged all the attendees to make the conference a remarkable and memorable one throughout the program.
Addressing the gathering, state Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho stated that such programs are a sign of development and insights for a society through organising such conference for the women. During such programs, one could learn many insightful thoughts to benefit the attendees in different ways. The Deputy Chief Minister expressed gratitude for all the support, encouragement and love shown to him as he becomes the state Deputy Chief Minister. “As he holds the post, he questioned, “Why me Lord?” Why such big responsibilities to me?” Through all the prayer supports of the believers, he said that he could realise God answered their prayers. Not only for his political party, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) but for all the Nagas he said to hold the post for all while the Kukis also has another one as the state Deputy Chief Minister”, stated the press release.

The chief guest mentioned that women play a big responsibility to make a better world and urged the women to build a better family, society and the village when they return back home. Acknowledging the contributions of mothers, the chief guest stated that nobody can replace a mother of a family. Inspite of all the good works that a child can render to one’s mother, the chief guest mentioned that nothing could repay back for the services of a mother in a family. The chief guest urged all mothers to build up good children in order to make a better world and to live happily together.
A special prayer was led by Rev. MK. Levi Pou, Pastor which was followed by presentation of cultural items including Gai-Gou, presentation of the conference theme song by different Poumai artists, cultural demonstration of the ancient wool making, folk tunes and cultural dances.
Poumai Naga Union President, R.B. Pani hoisted the PNNM union flag and the chief guest unveiled the conference monolith in the beginning of the program.
The program was attended by former Poumai elected representatives, present and former CSO leaders, members of the Karong Senapati Town Committee, delegates from different Poumai Naga villages and others.
