994 patients benefit from Mopungchuket Baptist Church’s free multispecialty health camp

A total of 994 patients received medical care during a two-day free multispecialty health camp organized by Mopungchuket Baptist Church (MBC) as part of its quasquicentennial (125th) year. Held on August 29–30, the camp began at Impur Christian Hospital (ICH), Mokokchung, and concluded at Mopungchuket village, recording 394 patients treated at Impur and 600 at Mopungchuket.

The camp, described as one of the largest of its kind in Nagaland, provided services across a wide range of specialties including General Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, ENT, Dental, Physiotherapy, Pain Medicine, Optometry, Pathology, Homeopathy and Ayurveda, Ultrasonology, and Community Medicine. Screening for tuberculosis and other infectious diseases was also conducted in collaboration with the National TB Elimination Programme and the Mobile ICTS team.

At least 16 doctors from Mopungchuket, along with six doctor in-laws, volunteered at the camp. They were supported by 15 technicians and about 70 healthcare workers and nursing staff. Out of the 35 doctors from Mopungchuket, 33 are still living, and many of them actively contributed to the camp. In

Mopungchuket, the medical team also visited and treated 16 home patients.

During the camp, 183 ultrasonographic examinations (83 at Impur, 100 at Mopungchuket) and 103 radiographic (X-ray) tests (52 at Impur, 51 at Mopungchuket) were conducted. Corrective eyewear was dispensed to 80 patients, and blood tests were carried out for 625 individuals.

Doctors identified major medical conditions such as renal cystic carcinoma, gallbladder disorders, fibrous cysts, Trichomonas vaginalis infection, hepatitis, and HIV. In addition, screening revealed a number of non-communicable diseases including hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and diabetes mellitus. Patients with suspected malignancies and serious conditions were referred to higher tertiary care centres for further treatment. Several gynecological health concerns were also identified, with patients receiving counselling, medication, and follow-up support.

Mopungchuket Baptist Church will officially celebrate its quasquicentennial anniversary on December 27 and 28, 2025.
