The 9th Annual Freshers’ Program of MGM College was celebrated on August 22, marking a memorable day for the new entrants to the college community. The formal session was ably hosted by Paul Munda and Rose Debbarma, setting a dignified tone for the proceedings. The event was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, D Ledia Awomi, President of the Ethnic Group of Nagaland

Other distinguished personalities included Alo A Yepthomi, Miss Sumi 2024 Second Runner-up, who served as the Guest Judge, and guest artists Keren and Wobeni, along with solo performer, Obed, who brought vibrancy to the celebration.

The program commenced with an invocation by Ahikali I. Jakha, Assistant Professor, Department of English, followed by a heartfelt welcome address by Mughapu Swu, President of MGMSC. A special musical performance by Inavitoli Swu uplifted the audience, while Fr Giju George, Administrator of MGM College, delivered an encouraging speech emphasizing the value of the freshers’ program in fostering belonging and unity.

A major highlight of the formal session was the Introductory Round, where the freshers showcased their talents and personalities. On behalf of the new students, Epikhao expressed gratitude and eagerness to begin their academic journey at MGM.

The formal session concluded with an inspiring address by the Chief Guest, D Ledia Awomi, who shared her wisdom and personal experiences, motivating students to pursue excellence with determination. The informal session, hosted by Hamlei Konyak and Lipeka Chishi, brought a lively spirit to the program. Cultural performances, artistic displays, and entertainment kept the audience enthralled. The formal and questioning rounds of the Freshers’ Contest added excitement, testing contestants’ knowledge,

confidence, and creativity.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Tiasunep Longkumer, General Secretary of MGMSC, who acknowledged the contributions of guests, faculty, staff, and students in making the event a grand success.
