Nagaland’s Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo on February 21 emphasized the importance of truthfulness, values and integrity in both society and the church, asserting that retrospection and introspection are vital for co-existing as an upright community.
He was addressing the 44th General Session of the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) held at Town Hall, Phek as Speaker.
Appreciating the pioneers and leaders of the Chakhesang tribe for their vision and leadership, Khamo acknowledged their role in shaping and guiding the community thus far. He stressed the importance of upholding cultural values, identity and traditions, and urged the people to stand by the resolutions adopted by the CPO for the larger interest of the community, including prohibition on pig/pork and the preservation of flora and fauna.
The legislator said that the Chakhesang community should build its foundation on God, followed by honesty and integrity, which he described as priceless ethos that must define both professional and personal life. He maintained that these values should serve as a distinguishing standard for the community.
Highlighting the role of honesty in leadership, friendship and cooperation, Khamo called upon the people to collectively fight social evils by restoring cultural values and traditions. Expressing concern over substance abuse and other negative influences, he urged united efforts to combat the growing menace.
He underscored that unity is the strength of the people, forging peace, justice and oneness to realize the full potential of the community. Calling for prayer and patience, Khamo said it was God’s divine plan for the Chakhesang people to exist as one community to glorify Him.
Describing hard work as a hallmark of the Chakhesang community, he noted that in a rapidly evolving and competitive world, the spirit of diligence must be upheld.
He called for optimal utilization of government-aided funds to support farmers and families, and advocated a mass movement centred on “One Family, One Project; One Family, One Entrepreneur” and the observance of “One Family, One Prayer Time.”

Asserting that vast opportunities exist in both government and private sectors for those equipped with the right knowledge and skills, Khamo further appealed for continued efforts to preserve cultural and traditional identity while upholding Christian values and love for the community.
On the occasion presidential address was delivered by Vezuhu Keyho and he said Chakhesang as a Naga tribe need to anchor on their values and uphold them while calling for unity.
Furthermore, President implored the need to uphold unity and maintained that none should work against the unity of Chakhesang tribe.
A speech was also delivered by K Puro, Convenor CPO Constitution Amendment Committee who further led the house for the adoption of the amended constitution.
Dr Zavei Hiese, Convenor, Chakhesang Attire Regulatory Board also delivered a speech.
Kekhwengulo Lea, Convenient Resolution adoption committee led the house for adoption of resolution and has declared the year 2026 as the “Year of Unity and Relationship building among the Chakhesang Community”.
It also resolved to promote a “One Family–One Project” initiative in agriculture and allied sectors and to constitute an expert committee to prepare a 30-year master plan towards economic independence.
Reaffirming its commitment to the existing ban on the import of pigs into Phek district, the CPO stated that pigs may be imported exclusively from Chakhesang-owned farms outside the district, subject to a valid veterinary health certificate. All such farms must register with the CPO, and implementation will be monitored by the Chakhesang Youth Front, besides other key resolutions.
Earlier welcome address was delivered by Shevohu Nienu, Chairperson Phek Town Council (PTC), General Secretary report was presented by Chepetso Koza, General Secretary CPO, folk song was presented by Porba Youth Organization and a special song was presented by Nurile Chizo.
The programme was led by Velapra Shijoh, Vice-president CPO and vote of thanks was proposed by Satahi Shujoh, Finance Secretary CPO.
On the occasion Khamo also released a book “Regulations on the usage of Chakhesang Attires and Ornaments Part-1”.
