A district-level Disaster Management Mock Exercise was conducted at Chumoukedima Village Ground on February 24 as part of the Mock Exercise for the year 2025–26.
The exercise was organized by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Chumoukedima in coordination with the National Disaster Response Force (12th Battalion).
The mock exercise was carried out based on a simulated earthquake scenario, wherein a collapsed building situation was created to demonstrate realistic rescue and response operations. The NDRF team simulated earthquake impact conditions using controlled techniques to replicate debris, trapped victims, and restricted access, enabling responders to practice real-time rescue operations under challenging circumstances.
Rescue teams demonstrated search and rescue techniques, victim extraction, evacuation procedures, and emergency medical response in coordination with other departments.
SDO (Civil) Chumoukedima, Shreyansee Jain, was present during the exercise and observed the proceedings. Officials from Fire and Emergency Services, Transport, health Departments, Chumoukedima Village Council, civil society organisations, volunteers, and local stakeholders also participated in the exercise.

Following the mock drill, the NDRF team conducted an interactive session with students and civilians from Chumoukedima Village, during which they demonstrated Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques and explained the importance of immediate first response during emergencies. The session aimed to sensitise and equip the youth with basic life-saving skills.
The mock exercise was conducted to enhance disaster preparedness, improve coordination among responding agencies, and create awareness among the public on appropriate response measures during emergency situations.
