DISHA meeting held at Dimapur

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, convened a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) on March 6, at DC’s conference Hall, Dimapur, under the chairmanship of MP (Lok Sabha), S Supongmeren Jamir.

MP Lok Sabha, and DISHA Chairperson, S Supongmeren Jamir, in his address stated that the purpose of convening the meeting was to review the implementation of government schemes and ensure that their benefits reach the grassroots level. He emphasized that projects should be implemented judiciously and that the selection of project areas and beneficiaries should be carried out carefully so that the schemes genuinely benefit the deserving people.

Jamir also encouraged officials and committee members to openly share both the progress made and the challenges encountered in implementing the schemes so that issues can be addressed collectively. He added that matters which cannot be resolved at the district level could be taken up with the state-level committee headed by the Chief Minister. Further expressed his aspiration to see a world-class railway station established in Dimapur and informed that discussions regarding the matter have already been held with the concerned department during the inspection at the Railway Station.

During the meeting, Advisor for Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship & Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer welcomed the visiting MP and other dignitaries, thanking Jamir for visiting Dimapur. He described the MP as one of the most active, sincere and eminent members of Parliament and said that the people of Dimapur look forward to his cooperation and initiatives for the development of the district.

Highlighting the importance of Dimapur, Moatoshi stated that the district belongs to every Naga as people from all tribes live and work there. Unlike other districts that are largely associated with particular tribes, he noted that Dimapur is a shared city for all Nagas and appealed to the MP to give special attention to its development.

He also pointed out that although Dimapur has become a major district, it is largely urban with limited land available for expansion and infrastructural development. In view of this constraint, he said the focus should be on improving and strengthening the existing infrastructure and facilities in the district. He further stated that Dimapur currently faces several urban challenges and expressed hope that, with the support of the MP, the issues affecting the people can be addressed.

Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang, welcomed the Member of Parliament, officials and non-official members to the meeting and thanked them for taking the time to attend the programme. He informed that the meeting had originally been scheduled to be held last year but had to be postponed due to various engagements.

He also expressed appreciation to the Member of Parliament for making time to attend the meeting and acknowledged the presence of officers from different departments responsible for implementing various government programmes and projects in the district.

A review meeting on the implementation of various government schemes in Dimapur district was held with the participation of officials and non-official members, where developmental issues and challenges faced in executing projects were presented through PowerPoint presentations and discussions. DISHA members under Dimapur district also submitted two copies of the technical status report highlighting their department’s latest activities, including achievements of targets, coverage, and performance under DISHA in the district The power point were presented by departments of PHED, Medical, Education , Finance, Social Welfare, Urban Development Nagaland Pollution Control Board and DRDA. The program concluded on a positive note.
