The Angami Youth Organization (AYO) has issued a statement condemning the murder of two security personnel – Constable Kevisekho Khate of 10th IRB and Lance Naik T Zewangha Yim of NAP Rangers – by another security personnel, Zenise Yhoshü, on 22 November.
All three personnel were on duty in Lamhainamdi village, Peren district, when the tragic incident took place.
“AYO, in the strongest term, condemn the indiscriminate murder of the two jawans. The inhumane brutality of killing one’s own comrade is an abomination upon the society,” read the statement.
The organisation appealed to the “concerned authority” to investigate the matter “at the earliest” and to reveal the motive of the murder to the public.
“We urge the concerned authority to book the culprit accordingly and award befitting punishment as per the law, in order to ensure that justice is not denied to the slain jawans and their kith and kin,” read the statement.
Conveying its “deepest condolences” to the families of Late Kevisekho Khate and Late T Zewangha Yim, Ayo stated in conclusion: “We pray that the Almighty God will grant comfort and solace to the bereaved families during this hour of grief and sorrow. May the departed souls rest in eternal peace.”
