The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on March 21 handed over ticket to retired bureaucrat T Chalukumba Ao for the bypoll at 28 Koridang (ST) Assembly Constituency.
A short ticket handing over ceremony was held at Congress Bhavan where the ticket was handed to Ao by NPCC president and Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir.
Chalukumba Ao expressed gratitude and pride while addressing supporters, stating that this marked his first opportunity to represent the Congress party. He described the moment as a significant honor, noting that receiving the party ticket fulfilled a long-standing aspiration he had nurtured since childhood.

Reflecting on the upcoming bypoll, Ao pointed out that the contest would largely revolve around Congress and the BJP. He called upon party workers to unite and extend their full support to strengthen the campaign.
Ao also announced that the official campaign would commence following the filing of his nomination on Monday.
Earlier, in a brief address before presenting the party ticket, the party president conveyed confidence in Ao’s candidature and expressed optimism about his prospects in the election.
