GHSS Kiphire commemorates cultural day

A cultural program was held at Government Higher Secondary School, Kiphire under PM SHRI (Pradhan Mantri School for Rising India) on March 27.

Held under the theme “Vibrant colours of Unity”, the event was chaired by S.Likhumla Sangtam G/T, while the welcome address was delivered by Y.P Singh, Senior Principal. The cultural program is a continuation of two days Art workshop under PM SHRI which kick started on March 25 and 26, which featured lessons on knitting, painting, carpentry, naga mura making, origami and paper engeneering, visual communication and graphics painting and designing.

In her brief note, Lingtsala Sangtam stated that culture day is not just a day of embracing our own culture but also respecting and embracing one’s neighbours as well.

“It is also a time to reflect the good cultural practices of our ancestors such as honesty, hardwork and kindness,” said Sangtam who reminded the students to be rich in cultural knowledge and be broad minded in a diverse society.

The program concluded with enchanting cultural competition from students from different tribes  including folksong, folkdance, top spinning and traditional fire making. Later, the price distribution was held on each category.
