The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Home Department, has cautioned the public against the circulation of a misleading weather advisory graphic titled “Nagaland Weather Advisory: March 25–29” on social media and other platforms.
In an official statement was issued by Sentiwapang Aier, Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, for public information and strict compliance, the NSDMA observed that while the weather-related information in the circulated post appears to have been derived from NSDMA sources, the district map used in the graphic was incorrectly generated, resulting in a misleading representation of affected areas.
The NSDMA clarified that the map depicted in the circulated graphic is inaccurate and does not reflect the official assessment or communication issued by the department. It warned that the circulation of altered or unofficial weather-related information, including incorrectly generated maps or visuals in the name of NSDMA, constitutes misinformation and may lead to confusion regarding risk zones and public safety preparedness.
