The Dimapur Police has issued a public notice informing citizens about enforcement of the Silent Period, border sealing, and movement restrictions in view of the Assam Legislative Assembly Elections 2026 scheduled on April 9.
According to the notice issued by the office of Commissioner of Police Dimapur, the Silent Period under the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), as mandated by the Election Commission of India, would be in force from 5 p.m. on April 7 until 5 p.m. on April 9, 2026.
During this period, all forms of election campaigning—including public meetings, speeches, rallies, processions, and dissemination of election-related content through television, radio, cable networks, and social media—are strictly prohibited.
Border Sealing
The inter-state border with Assam would be sealed from 5 p.m. on April 7 until 5 p.m. on April 9. Security forces would be deployed at all entry and exit points to ensure strict enforcement of the order.

Movement Restrictions
Authorities have also imposed strict movement regulations in border areas during the sealing period:
- No public movement of persons who are not registered voters of the concerned constituency shall be permitted in the border areas.
- No outsiders are permitted to enter or move within the jurisdiction of another constituency or administrative area during this period.
- Persons travelling on the National Highway may do so for bona fide transit purposes only.

The police have urged residents, traders, commuters, and the general public to plan their travel in advance and avoid unnecessary movement in border areas to prevent inconvenience.
The notice has been issued in public interest to ensure smooth conduct of the elections and to maintain law and order during the polling period.
