The Longkhum Students’ Union (LSU), Longkhum, has submitted a representation to the Principal Director, Directorate of School Education, regarding the closure of Government High School, Longkhum, under Mokokchung district, Nagaland.
According to the representation, the school has remained closed since February 27, 2026, following a dispute between landowners concerning the appointment of Multi Tasking Staff (MTS). The Union stated that the closure has affected students, parents, and the community.
The LSU stated that since the closure, students have not been able to attend classes in a regular school environment, resulting in disruption of academic activities. It further stated that the situation has caused concern among parents and the community.
In the representation, the Union stated that the closure “has disrupted the normal academic routine of the students and created uncertainty regarding their educational progress.”
The Union also stated that the continued closure has affected the overall academic environment and placed students in a difficult situation with regard to their studies.

Taking note of the matter, the LSU has requested the Department of School Education to intervene and take necessary steps for reopening of the school at the earliest.
The Union further expressed hope that “an early and amicable resolution will be arrived at in the interest of all.”
