Lions Club of Dimapur Elite successfully organized a two-week social media awareness campaign, #plasticfreestartshere, to highlight the harmful effects of single-use plastic and promote sustainable alternatives. The campaign was held in observance of Environment Week from April 18 to 26.

As part of the initiative, the Club undertook a series of impactful activities aimed at engaging the community. The campaign commenced with the distribution of plastic-free sanitary pads in Master Colony, where women were also educated about hygiene, health, and environmentally sustainable practices.

Continuing the momentum, the Club carried out an extensive cloth bag distribution drive under the #plasticfreestartshere campaign. More than 1000 cloth bags were distributed to vendors, hawkers, shopkeepers, and passersby across key areas including New Market, Durga Mandir and Nyamo Lotha Road. During the drive, the team actively interacted with the public, spreading awareness about reducing plastic usage and encouraging the adoption of eco-friendly alternatives.
