The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland has strongly condemned the alleged molestation and assault of two young women from the Northeast in Delhi.

The BJP said the reported incident involving women from Assam and Nagaland is deeply disturbing and unacceptable and raises serious concerns regarding the safety and dignity of women and highlights the urgent need to ensure the safety and equal treatment of people from the Northeast living across India.

“The allegations of harassment, physical assault, inappropriate behaviour, intimidation, and delayed response despite repeated appeals for help are matters of grave concern,” it stated adding, such acts are against the values of humanity and have no place in a civilized society.

The party also called for stronger measures to guarantee the safety and security of women and to prevent any form of discrimination or harassment against people from the Northeast residing in different parts of the country.

The party also expressed solidarity with the victims and hoped that justice would be delivered swiftly.
