PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana review meeting held at Kiphire

A review meeting on the implementation of the Government of India’s flagship scheme, PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, was convened by Deputy Commissioner Kiphire on May 16 at the DC’s Chamber, Kiphire.

The meeting deliberated on the progress and modalities for effective implementation of the scheme in the district with an emphasis on promoting renewable energy adoption and ensuring wider public participation under the rooftop solar initiative.

Officials and stakeholders present discussed strategies for awareness generation, beneficiary mobilisation, and smooth execution of the programme across the district.

During the meeting, Phuvkiu Village was selected as the “Model Solar Village” of Kiphire District under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana initiative. The selection was made in recognition of the village’s potential and readiness to promote sustainable and clean energy practices through the adoption of solar power infrastructure.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of renewable energy in achieving sustainable development and encouraged all concerned departments and stakeholders to extend active cooperation for successful implementation of the scheme. The initiative is expected to contribute towards clean energy transition, reduction of electricity expenses for households, and promotion of environmentally sustainable practices in the district, he said.

The meeting concluded with a resolve to work collectively towards making the programme a success and ensuring that the benefits of the scheme reach the deserving beneficiaries across Kiphire District
