The Lotha Hoho has decided not to participate in any agitation or protest related to the Nagaland Foothill Road issue, stating that it prefers cooperation with the State Government over confrontation.
In a letter addressed to the Convener of the Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), the Lotha Hoho acknowledged receipt of the committee’s communication dated May 9, 2026.
The apex body stated that it has been actively participating in meetings with both the NFHRCC and the Nagaland Government regarding the Foothill Road project and is fully aware of issues concerning the progress of works, financial implications and land acquisition or donation matters.
The Hoho said that considering the challenges involved, all organisations, including the NFHRCC, should cooperate with one another instead of resorting to confrontation through protests or agitation.

While affirming its support for the NFHRCC in “any genuine effort” to expedite the Foothill Road project, the organisation also noted that the State Government was equally keen to complete the project but was facing challenges such as fund constraints and land-related issues.
“In this juncture,” the Hoho stated, it would choose to cooperate with the State Government authorities rather than support protest programmes initiated by any organisation.
The Lotha Hoho therefore informed that it would not attend the NFHRCC-convened meeting scheduled on May 19 at Dimapur.
However, it clarified that it had no objection if members of the Dimapur-based Lotha Hoho chose to attend the meeting in their individual capacity.
