The Department of School Education, Wokha organized a one-day orientation programme for surveyors and voluntary teachers under ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society) Nav Bharat Saaksharata Karyakram at Tiyi Hall, Wokha on May 21.

Deputy Commissioner Wokha, K Mhathung Tsanglao, delivered the keynote address, stressing the need for literacy in society and inclusiveness in education. He thanked the surveyors and voluntary teachers for their commitment and highlighted their role and responsibility in educating the community. He further emphasized that education is the key driver to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

District Education Officer, Raphael Zubonthung, delivered the welcome address. The training sessions included presentations on ULLAS implementation by ToT Daisy Tsopoe, ULLAS primer by ToT Thungchobeni M. Humtsoe, and ULLAS App and survey procedures by ToT Subenthung Kithan. A short film titled “A New Classmate” was also screened during the programme. The concluding remarks were given by ADC, Samagra Shiksha, Wokha, K. Chandemo Patton.

Launched in 2023, ULLAS is a flagship literacy initiative under the Nav Bharat Saaksharata Karyakram. Its objectives include promoting lifelong learning, enhancing literacy among adults, and empowering communities through inclusive education. The programme targets surveyors, voluntary teachers, and learners across society, aiming to build awareness, skills, and opportunities for sustainable educational growth.
