Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang, NCS, has informed that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the conduct of a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in a phased manner across 16 States and 3 Union Territories, including Nagaland.
The qualifying date for the Special Intensive Revision in Nagaland has been fixed as October 1, 2026. The revision exercise is aimed at updating and ensuring the accuracy of electoral rolls ahead of future elections.
As per the schedule notified by the Commission, the Special Intensive Revision process in Nagaland would begin with preparatory activities and training programmes from August 5 to August 14, 2026. This would be followed by house-to-house verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from August 16 to September 14, 2026.
The rationalisation of polling stations is scheduled to be completed by September 14, 2026, while the draft electoral roll will be published on September 20, 2026.
The period for filing claims and objections has been fixed from September 20 to October 20, 2026. Notices and disposal of claims and objections will be carried out between October 9 and November 18, 2026. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on November 23, 2026.

The schedule for SIR Phase-II has been fixed keeping in view the ongoing house listing of Census activities. The revision exercise is expected to involve active participation from all stakeholders, including electors, political parties, and election officials.
Recognized political parties under Dimapur district have been requested to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) for each polling booth to ensure transparency and facilitate smooth conduct of the revision process. Political parties have also been urged to actively participate in the Special Intensive Revision exercise.
Further, all eligible citizens have been appealed to cooperate with BLOs during the house-to-house verification process and ensure that their electoral details are accurate and updated in the electoral roll.
