In consideration of the serious environment hazards caused by plastic waste, the District Administration Noklak has banned banned single use plastic within the jurisdiction of Noklak Town Council with effect from June 5, 2026.
The banned items included all single use plastics such as carry bags irrespective of thickness (Microns) size or colour and all single use plastic bottles used for drinking water and soft drinks with a capacity of less than 1 litre.
Violation of the notification would penalties which include Rs 10,000 for first offence and Rs 20,000 for second offence and for subsequent offenses, trade license/permit would be cancelled.

It further informed that regular checking and inspection shall be conducted by the enforcement team to ensure strict compliance to the ban. Any violation detected during such inspection would be dealt with as per the penalty provision mentioned above. All individual vendors, commercial establishments, institutions and organization are requested to discontinue the use, sale, storage and distribution of the aforementioned banned items.
The general public have been encouraged to adopt eco-friendly alternative such as cloth bag, jute bag and reusable water containers. The cooperation of all stakeholders is solicited in making Noklak Town a clean, healthier and more environmentally responsible Town, it added.
