A review meeting on the augmentation of water supply to Kohima town from the Teupuiki/Dzupfu River was held on May 26 at the Office Chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, under the chairmanship of DC Kohima B Henok Buchem, NCS.
The meeting reviewed the action taken on the execution of the tripartite agreement among the Government of Nagaland, Poilwa Village and Khonoma Village, with special focus on matters relating to Kohima district.
During the meeting, it was informed that a 22 MLD Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is proposed to be established on around 15 acres of land in Khonoma village. The land acquisition process will be carried out through the District Revenue Administration in coordination with the NDB-PHED. Survey works are scheduled to commence from June 2026.
On the construction of the Khonoma–NH29 road via Dzüdza River, the Executive Engineer of NPWD (R&B), Kohima South Division informed that the project has achieved 50 percent progress and is expected to be completed by the end of the financial year 2026-27. The department has been directed to submit a detailed progress report by June 3.

The meeting also discussed the augmentation and improvement of water supply to Khonoma village. PHED officials informed that the works are being implemented by the Department of Rural Development under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). The Project Director of DRDA Kohima was directed to submit a status report by June 3.
The Executive Engineer, PHED Kohima Urban Division, has been asked to submit status reports and comments on issues relating to the benefits of Khonoma Village.
Further, the District Education Officer, Kohima was directed to submit a detailed report on the repair and renovation of Government High School, Khonoma village, while the Divisional Forest Officer, Kohima was tasked to furnish a report regarding restrictions on logging and felling of trees and the protection of flora and fauna in the area.
The meeting concluded with the chair urging all concerned departments to submit their action taken reports within the stipulated deadline for onward submission.
