The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nagaland organised a ticket distribution programme for the Wokha Town Council (WTC) Ward No. 8 By-Election 2026 at the District BJP Office, Wokha, on May 29.
The programme was chaired by President of 38 A/C BJP, Jenithung Lotha, and attended by party leaders and supporters.
The programme commenced with an invocation pronounced by Abi Humtsoe, Secretary of BJP Wokha Unit, followed by a welcome address delivered by Rhanbemo Odyuo, President of BJP Wokha.
During the programme, the BJP ticket was formally handed over to intending candidate Mhomo Humtsoe for the forthcoming Wokha Town Council Ward No. 8 by-election. A special prayer for the intending candidate was offered by Nrikhon Ngullie, Deacon of WTBC.
Speaking at the programme, intending candidate, Mhomo Humtsoe expressed gratitude to the party leadership for reposing faith in him and appealed for the support and cooperation of party leaders, workers and the public.
He also emphasized the importance of collective support from both the district and state party leadership. He further assured that, if elected, he would work with commitment and sincerity for the welfare of the colony, society and the party.
Former BJP candidate and State Council Member of BJP Nagaland, Renponthung Ezung, also addressed the gathering and extended his support to the intending candidate while encouraging party workers to remain united and work collectively for the forthcoming by-election.

Ezung stated that he and the intending candidate had worked together since their student days and described Humtsoe as an individual who had consistently contributed towards the welfare of society. He expressed confidence that the candidate’s decision to contest the town council election was driven by a desire to serve the public. Describing the by-election as a “friendly contest,” Ezung also expressed hope for a smooth, free and fair election process.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Khochobeni Odyuo, Secretary of BJP Wokha Unit.
Following the programme, party members accompanied the intending candidate for the filing of nomination for the Wokha Town Council (WTC) Ward No. 8 By-Election 2026 at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Office, Wokha, where Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Renbomo Ezung, serving as the Returning Officer (RO).
