District TB Forum & DAPCC reviews status of public health

The District level meeting for the District Tuberculosis Forum and the District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee (DAPCC) was successfully conducted on May 29 at the DPDB Meeting Hall, DC Office, Longleng under the chairmanship of W Manpai Phom, Deputy Commissioner, Longleng to review the status of public health.

Dr Temsusashi, DTO chaired the program and expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner and welcomed all members present. He briefly outlined the objectives and aims of the District TB Forum and the DAPCC while highlighting the importance of coordinated efforts and community participation in strengthening TB and AIDS control initiatives in the district.

He also highlighted the various government initiatives available for TB patients including free diagnosis and treatment, nutritional support and honorarium for treatment supporters.

Tongang STS shared the intensive 100 days TB Mukt Bharat which is still ongoing at the village level, focussing on those asymptomatic cases. And Lita, DIS delivered the present scenario of AIDS in Longleng district.

Kabit State M&E Officer, SSHAKTI also shared on Mission AIDS Suraksha which is an intensified public health initiative by the government of India launched to attain HIV/AIDS epidemic control and make all districts “Surakshit plus”. He said India aims to achieve HIV control by December 2027 and thus, this mission aligns with Global Sustainable Development goals and relies on grassroots execution through following strategic targets- 95-95-99 targets and accelerated micro planning is being implemented in 15 districts in Nagaland to improve testing, treatment linkage and adherence. Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner, Longleng W Manpai Phom appreciated the works and performance done by the Health & Family Welfare, Longleng. He said that the objective of the meeting was to discuss in detail the steps, procedures and measures to be taken to work towards eliminating Tuberculosis and to control HIV/AIDS within the district. He emphasized on the importance of awareness and the stigma that is associated with TB and HIV and called upon the line departments and sectors to coordinate with the health department.

He also urged the NGOs and Civil Societies to work towards involving the community through awareness programmes and activities for better detection and prevention. He concluded his speech by saying that the functions and responsibility of the committee was to be continuous and consistent for effective results.

The meeting concluded with discussion on the issues and challenges faced, a call for strengthened coordination among departments and stakeholders, working collectively towards achieving the goals.

Also present in the meeting were EAC Longleng, EAC Sakshi, DRDA, Phom people Council, Phomla Hoichem, Yingli Mission Society along with officials from the District Health Society, Longleng.
