The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl reported in Dimapur, describing violence and abuse against women and children as deeply disturbing and unacceptable.
In a statement issued on May 30, the conference expressed concern over the safety and dignity of vulnerable individuals in society and noted that the accused had been arrested after an FIR was registered in connection with the case.
While acknowledging the action taken by law enforcement authorities so far, AKM stated that the matter is currently under investigation and stressed the need for the legal process to proceed in a fair, impartial and professional manner. It urged individuals and organizations to refrain from speculation or assumptions until the investigation is completed.

The AKM also called upon the concerned authorities to conduct a thorough, transparent and time-bound investigation so that the truth is established and justice is delivered in accordance with the law. It further asserted that there should be no negligence or compromise in handling a matter of such seriousness.
Expressing solidarity with the victim and her family, AKM emphasized the importance of protecting the victim’s dignity, privacy and well-being. It also highlighted the emotional and psychological impact such incidents have on victims and said these aspects must not be overlooked.
The conference appealed to the public to remain calm and responsible, avoid spreading unverified information, and allow investigating agencies to carry out their work without interference. It maintained that crimes against women and minors must be addressed with the utmost seriousness and sensitivity.
