Sargam Cultural Association, in collaboration with the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, organised “Rabindra Utsav 2026” with great enthusiasm and cultural splendour, bringing together artists, students, community leaders and cultural enthusiasts in a grand celebration of the life and works of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
The programme, conceptualised and directed by renowned cultural personality, Kamal Acharjee, featured a series of cultural performances, competitions and felicitation ceremonies aimed at promoting Tagore’s rich literary, musical and artistic legacy among the younger generation.
The event was conducted in two sessions. The morning session was graced by President of the Dimapur Naga Council, GK Rengma, as the Special Guest. Among the special invitees were General Secretary of the Dimapur Naga Council, LK Peter Anal, former MLA, K Atovi Sumi, Advocate Mahavir Jain and President of Dimapur Bangali Samaj, KK Paul.
The evening session was attended by National Vice President of BJP Nagaland, Dr M Chuba Ao, as the Guest of Honour. Special invitees included General Secretary of the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), Michael Kath, DNSU Speaker, Tesiding Newmai and Secretary, Education, DNSU, Kevin Gonmei.
A major highlight of the programme was the special felicitation ceremony organised to honour outstanding achievements in academics and cultural activities. Sreoshi Acharjee, who secured the top position in Class XII (Arts) and emerged as the overall topper across all three streams at Kendriya Vidyalaya Project Sewak, Dimapur, was felicitated by Dr M Chuba Ao in recognition of her exceptional academic accomplishment.
Two young cultural talents, Sneha Pandit and Sneha Bhattacharjee were also felicitated for their participation in the National Bharatnatyam Workshop held in Guwahati and organised by NEZCC under the guidance of Kamal Acharjee. The felicitation was carried out by Simati Sen Poddar and Sharmila Choudhary, both serving as judges during the programme.

The celebration also featured Rabindra Sangeet and Rabindra Nritya competitions in Group A, B and C categories. Around 124 participants from Nagaland and Assam took part in the competitions, showcasing their talents through Tagore’s timeless songs and dance compositions. The competitions provided a platform for young artists to display their skills while deepening their understanding of Tagore’s cultural contributions.

Participants captivated the audience with soulful renditions of Rabindra Sangeet and graceful performances of Rabindra Nritya, reflecting the enduring relevance of Tagore’s artistic heritage. The enthusiastic participation from different age groups highlighted the growing interest among youth in preserving and promoting classical and literary traditions.
The organisers expressed gratitude to all guests, participants, parents, judges and supporters who contributed to the success of the event. Special appreciation was extended to sponsors, Pradip Jain and Manorama Jain for sponsoring the mementoes presented during the programme.
Acknowledgement was also given to Mahavir Jain, K Atovi Sumi and Kamal Acharjee along with his family for sponsoring lunch and refreshments for participants and guests. The programme was smoothly conducted by anchor Pampi Sarkar.
Rabindra Utsav 2026 concluded on a high note with organisers reaffirming their commitment to promoting cultural harmony, artistic excellence and the timeless values of Rabindranath Tagore among future generations. The event served as a vibrant platform for cultural exchange and community participation, reinforcing the importance of preserving India’s rich literary and artistic heritage.
