In preparation for World Environment Day on June 5, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, Nagaland has issued an official notice directing all government offices, educational institutions, local bodies, and the public to participate in a district-wide mass social work, cleanliness-cum-plantation drive. The drive is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. on June 5 keeping in view the upcoming monsoon season and the need to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
According to the notice, all Heads of Offices and Educational Institutions in Zunheboto district headquarters have been directed to organize mass social work and cleanliness activities along with tree plantation on their respective premises. Similarly, councilors of Zunheboto Town Council (ZTC), Ward GBs, and ward representatives have been requested to conduct parallel drives in their respective wards and localities while ensuring active public participation. All business establishments have also been instructed to remain closed during the period of the drive and actively join the cleanliness efforts.

The administration has further requested various government departments and churches to extend support by providing vehicles and machinery. The departments include PHED, Power Department, Mechanical Department, SBCZ, and ZTSBC. The mass drive will focus on key activities such as cleaning and clearing of drainage systems, segregation of waste, sweeping of roads and streets, complete removal of single-use plastics, and plantation at strategic locations across the town and wards.
