ENPBS seeks high-level SIT probe into minor sexual assault case

The Eastern Naga Parents’ Body Shillong (ENPBS) Meghalaya has appealed for high-level investigation into the sexual assault of a minor in Dimapur

In a letter to Director General of Police, Nagaland the ENPBS stated that while two accused, O Watimeren and Tsutimongba Ao have been named in the case, there may be other culprits involved in the case,  it said the victim’s family and the community are deeply concerned that justice must be delivered swiftly and without any compromise.

In view of the gravity of the crime and to ensure a free, fair, and transparent investigation, the ENPBS requested the DGP to constitute a high-level Special Investigation Team for this case and entrust

the investigation to a senior, impartial officer of high repute, such as DGP, Nagaland Police. Shri. Rubin Sharma, IPS to monitor/supervise the case.

It also urged to ensure that all individuals involved in the crime are identified and booked under the law, without exception.

The ENPBS reposed full faith in the Nagaland Police and believed that under the leadership of the DGP, justice would be delivered to the minor victim and her family.

DSTL:

The Dimapur Sumi Totimi Loka (DSTL) has strongly condemned the alleged sexual abuse of a minor child reportedly involving O Watimeren Jamir and Tsuktimongba Ao.

Stating that such acts represent a serious violation of the rights, dignity, and safety of children and are wholly unacceptable in any civilized society, the DSTL unequivocally denounced all forms of sexual abuse, exploitation, and violence against minors and reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the welfare and protection of children.

It also expressed solidarity with the victim and the family during this deeply distressing time.

DSTL further called upon the concerned authorities to ensure a thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation and to expedite the due process of law. It urged that appropriate action be taken without delay so that justice is served in a timely and effective manner.
