ASF cases detected in Wokha district

In view of the reported cases of detection of African Swine Fever (ASF) under Wokha district, reported from the office of CVO & AH Office Wokha, Deputy Commissioner Wokha, K Mhathung Tsanglao has notified the under mentioned areas as infected zone and surveillance zones under Section 6(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infection and Contagious Diseases in Animal Act 2009, for Control and containment of ASF disease.

The infected zones are Lower Mt. Tiyi College Area, Wokha Block, Wokha Village Wokha Block, Wokha Town, Wokha Block (1km radius of infected premises).

Surveillance zone will cover 10 km radius from the infected premises (9 km radius outside the infected zone).

Considering the highly contagious nature of ASF and its severe impact on the pig population and the livelihood of farmers, DC Wokha has banned slaughter of pigs; import and export of pigs and piglets; and transportation of pigs/ pork and pork products from infected and surveillance zones.

He has also requested to immediately report unusual pig sickness/mortality, properly dispose carcasses as per prescribed guidelines and strictly adhere to disinfection and bio-security protocols.
