STOP Diarrhoea Campaign 2026 launched at Longleng

The STOP Diarrhoea Campaign 2026 was officially launched at the CMO Conference Hall, Longleng on June 17 on the theme: “Stop Diarrhoea through Hygiene and ORS” by W Manpai Phom, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Longleng.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that the campaign mainly focuses on preventing diarrhoeal diseases among children through increased awareness, proper understanding of preventive measures, and community participation. He emphasized the importance of spreading awareness through CSOs, ASHA workers, and coordinated efforts of all line departments, especially during the monsoon season when diarrhoeal cases are more common.

He also stressed the role of teachers and educational institutions in educating young students about hygiene and preventive practices. Further, he encouraged the ASHA workers to strengthen community coverage and awareness activities.

YB Angam, Phom Peoples Council President, in his short speech, advised the medical department to use the church and community platforms in disseminating information on Diarrhoea particularly on the importance ORS and Zinc tablets in the management of diarrhoea. He also urged the Education Department to play an active role in spreading awareness to the student community.

The programme was chaired by Burnemla, DEO (IDSP). The welcome address was delivered by Christina, VCCM, followed by keynote address and presentation on the objectives and importance of the campaign by Dr. Imtijungshi Aier, DPO (RCH & UIP). The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Henmei, DCM.
