Naga Indigenous Inn-cum-Learning Centre inaugurated at Phesama village

The Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland, on Wednesday inaugurated the Naga Indigenous Inn-cum-Learning Centre at Phesama Village, Kohima, marking a significant step towards preserving, promoting, and documenting Naga indigenous heritage and traditional knowledge systems.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Bodeno S Colo, Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Art & Culture as the Special Guest.

The programme began with the unveiling of the commemorative stone monolith and the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, followed by a dedicatory prayer offered by Vito-o Kuotsu, Associate Pastor, Phesama CRC. The programme was chaired by Teisovikuolie Therie, Deputy Director, Art & Culture.

Presenting the technical report, Er Kakheli Swu, Executive Engineer, Art & Culture, highlighted the project’s objectives and key infrastructural features. The gathering was further enriched by a special musical presentation by Neilaü Thaprü.

Delie Metha & Son Enterprise, expressed gratitude to the Department of Art & Culture for entrusting the firm with the project. He also conveyed his sincere appreciation to Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, for his invaluable support, and acknowledged the cooperation of all stakeholders involved in the successful completion of the project.

In her address, the Special Guest emphasized the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge, cultural practices, and traditional values for future generations.

She expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) and the North Eastern Council (NEC) for supporting the project, and highlighted the Centre’s potential to promote cultural tourism, indigenous studies, experiential learning, and community-based economic development.

The Special Guest also acknowledged the contributions of the engineers, architects, technical personnel, village authorities, community leaders, and the executing agency M/s Delie Metha & Son Enterprise for their dedication in bringing the project to fruition.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Adela Moa, Director, Art & Culture, who

expressed appreciation to all dignitaries, officials, stakeholders, and participants for their support and

contributions towards the successful completion and inauguration of the Centre.

The inauguration of the Naga Indigenous Inn-cum-Learning Centre reflects the Government of Nagaland’s continued commitment to safeguarding the State’s rich cultural heritage while creating opportunities for learning, tourism, and sustainable community development.
