The Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Dharam Raj, IAS, has issued a strict order prohibiting the use of domestic LPG cylinders by commercial establishments across the district.

The district administration has received reports that several commercial establishments, including restaurants, hotels, and dhabas, are using domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes, which violates the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000 under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

The administration has directed all LPG distributors not to supply domestic LPG cylinders to commercial establishments. Businesses currently using domestic cylinders have been instructed to immediately discontinue the practice and switch to authorized commercial LPG cylinders.

The order warns that any commercial establishment found misusing domestic LPG cylinders will face strict action, including confiscation of cylinders, heavy financial penalties, and cancellation of trade licences under the Gas Cylinder Rules, 2016.

To ensure compliance, district authorities will conduct surprise inspections and raids. Any violation of the order will invite legal action under the relevant provisions of law.

The move is aimed at preventing the diversion and misuse of subsidized domestic LPG and ensuring adherence to regulations governing LPG distribution.
