The Naga People’s Front (NPF), Noklak Division, on June 26 organised a Thanksgiving and Felicitation Programme in honour of P Longon following his appointment as Advisor for the Department of Taxes, Government of Nagaland. The programme was held at his residence in Noklak. Longon also served as Nagaland’s Minister for Health and Family Welfare during the previous government (2015–2018).
In his address, Longon expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for entrusting him with the portfolio, stating that it’s an honour to the community. Describing the responsibility as an opportunity to serve the people, he said that holding a portfolio is “like a shed that provides shelter to the people.” He acknowledged that the assignment carries great responsibility and appealed for the continued cooperation and support of party workers in fulfilling his duties effectively.
He also expressed gratitude to the party leaders, workers and supporters for the felicitation. He thanked them for their continued trust and support, and reaffirmed his commitment to discharge his responsibilities as Advisor with dedication while working for the welfare and development of the people.

Joint Commissioner, Department of Taxes, Imosong, briefly highlighted the functions and objectives of the department in the state. He said the department’s primary responsibility is to mobilize and collect revenue for the government. He also informed that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was officially implemented across India on July 1, 2017.
Short speeches were delivered by NPF Noklak Division President Weisang, COB and Noklak Division In-charge Vice President S. Chollen, and KTC President L. Ngon, who congratulated Longon on his new responsibility and expressed confidence in his leadership.
The thanksgiving program was attended by the Parent Body, Women Wing, Youth Wing and Farmer Wing of NPF Noklak Division and NPF 56th Noklak Assembly Constituency (A/C), along with all Party Workers.
