Kohima reviews progress of EMRS Projects at Chiechama, Botsa

The District Committee on Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) on July 2 reviewed the progress of the EMRS projects at Chiechama and Botsa during a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner, B Henok Buchem, NCS, at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Kohima.

Convened in line with directives of the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the meeting was attended by representatives from the district administration, police, line departments and the Tribal Affairs Department.

The committee reviewed key infrastructure requirements for the Chiechama project, including the 2-km approach road from the highway, power connectivity and piped water supply. At Botsa, members discussed water connectivity and assessed the overall progress of the project.

According to the review, the Chiechama EMRS has achieved 62.3 per cent physical progress, while the Botsa project stands at 21.47 per cent. Both projects are scheduled for completion by 2027.

The Deputy Commissioner urged all concerned departments to work in close coordination to ensure timely completion of the projects so that students can benefit from the facilities at the earliest.
