MGM College organised a Faculty Development Workshop on “Academic Writing and AI Tools in Research” on July 10 in the College Auditorium. The workshop was attended by all faculty members, including the Principal and the Administrator, Fr Shaiju Philip. The programme comprised two enriching technical sessions. The first session was conducted by Dr Sangeeta Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, on the topic “Writing Research Articles for Publication”. She highlighted the essential components of writing quality research articles, publication ethics, manuscript preparation, journal selection, and effective strategies for publishing in reputed peer-reviewed journals, including Scopus-indexed journals.
The second session was delivered by Jemsungba Walling, IQAC Coordinator and Assistant Professor,
Department of English, on the topic “Academic Writing and AI Tools in Research”. He demonstrated the effective and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic writing and research, emphasising responsible AI practices, literature review, citation management, research productivity, and the importance of maintaining academic integrity.

Both sessions were followed by an engaging question-and-answer session, during which faculty members clarified their queries and shared their research experiences.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr RK Behera encouraged the faculty members to cultivate a strong research culture, publish regularly in quality journals, and make responsible use of emerging AI technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and research excellence. He stressed that continuous professional development is essential for achieving academic excellence and institutional growth.
The programme concluded with a closing prayer led by Principal followed by a vote of thanks.
