Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer (DEO), Kohima, B Henok Buchem, NCS called upon Supervisors undergoing training for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll to thoroughly understand the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) guidelines and procedures to ensure a smooth and credible revision process.
Addressing the training programme at the DC’s Conference Hall, Kohima on July 14, the DEO stressed that the primary objective of the SIR exercise is to include all eligible voters and exclude all ineligible persons from the electoral roll. He cautioned that the ECI closely monitors the exercise for any lapses, and officials must strictly adhere to the prescribed rules and procedures.

Emphasizing the role of ERO, AERO, and Supervisors as future master trainers for Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Buchem said they should have a clear understanding of every aspect of the revision process, as they would also be interacting with political parties, civil society organisations, community leaders and the public. He urged them to keep the provisions, instructions and frequently asked questions “at their fingertips” so they can confidently address queries.
As part of the revision process, training programmes are being conducted for electoral officials, including Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Supervisors and Booth Level Officers (BLOs), to familiarise them with the guidelines, procedures and documentation required for the exercise.
