Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, NCS, chaired a meeting at his office chamber in Kohima on July 16 to review preparations for the 80th Independence Day celebration to be held on August 15, 2026.
The meeting was attended by officials from the district administration, Kohima Municipal Council, PHED (Urban), Urban Development, representatives of the Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), and DPRO.
The meeting discussed preparatory measures, including the installation of the flag post, maintenance of roads, and the facelift of Kohima town to ensure the district is well-prepared for the Independence Day celebration.

Departments concerned were assigned responsibilities and urged to complete the necessary works in a timely manner to facilitate the smooth and successful observance of the national event.

In view of the upcoming 80th Independence Day Celebration to be held at District headquarter, Mon, a co-ordination meeting was convened by Deputy Commissioner Mon, Wennyei Konyak on July 16 at Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner Mon, where works distribution for the I/Day was carried out successfully.
The DC requested all the HoDs to co-ordinate with one another for the smooth and successful conduct of the 80th Independence Day Celebration.
The meeting also decided to conduct a mass social work on 8th August 2026 at Mon Town.
