The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed profound grief and concern over the devastating floods that have severely affected Tizit Town, Tizit village and Lapalampong village in Mon district, calling for immediate relief and rehabilitation measures.

In a statement, the party said reports indicate that nearly 800 households in Tizit Town alone have been affected by the floods, which have caused extensive destruction to homes, schools, hostels, shops, tea gardens, agricultural fields and livestock, leaving hundreds of families in a humanitarian crisis.

The NPCC expressed concern that, despite the scale of the disaster, the affected people have reportedly not received adequate relief or assistance. It stressed that the immediate priority should be to save lives and provide essential support, including shelter, food, clean drinking water, medicines, clothing and the restoration of basic services.

The party urged the Government of Nagaland, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) and all concerned agencies to immediately undertake comprehensive relief and rehabilitation measures. It also appealed to the Central Government to extend all possible assistance to ensure timely support for the affected families and help them rebuild their lives with dignity.

Expressing solidarity with those affected, the NPCC conveyed its heartfelt condolences and prayers for the safety, strength and speedy recovery of all victims. It also prayed for comfort for those who have lost their homes and livelihoods and for courage as communities work towards recovery.

The party further appealed to civil society organisations, churches, non-governmental organisations, businesses and compassionate citizens to come forward with relief materials, financial assistance and voluntary service to support the affected people.
