The Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO), the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) and the Kohima Traders Association (KTA) have resolved to restructure the traders’ body in a move aimed at strengthening trade administration and promoting greater unity within Kohima’s business community.

The decision was taken during a joint consultative meeting held on July 24 at the KVYO office in Ziekezou, where representatives of the three organisations deliberated on organisational structures, coordination mechanisms and the collective welfare of the business fraternity in the state capital.

As part of the resolution, the Kohima Traders Association (KTA) will be renamed as the Traders Grievances Cell.

Under the new arrangement, the Traders Grievances Cell will function under the banner and aegis of the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI), which will serve as the apex body for traders in Kohima.

Despite the restructuring, the Traders Grievances Cell will continue to carry out its existing responsibilities of safeguarding the rights of traders, addressing grievances and promoting the overall welfare of the trading community, while functioning under the guidance and leadership of the KCCI.

The organisations expressed confidence that the restructuring would strengthen coordination between local youth bodies and business associations, foster greater harmony within the trading community, and create a stronger institutional framework to support the socio-economic growth of Kohima.
