Condolences continued to pour in following the demise of Vilanuo Angela Yhome, President of the Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA), with the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR), NSCN (IM) General Secretary Th. Muivah, and the KUDAWHI Union, Dimapur paying glowing tributes to her life of service, leadership and commitment to the Naga people.
The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) said it was profoundly saddened by Yhome’s passing on July 31 and extended its heartfelt condolences and solidarity to her bereaved family and the Naga Mothers’ Association.
Describing her as a tireless advocate for peace, justice, reconciliation and human rights, the FNR said she had dedicated her life to serving the Naga people and remained an unwavering and resilient voice who inspired generations. The forum said her death was a great loss, remembering her as a gracious leader, a selfless individual and a dear friend whose positive spirit and commitment to society would be deeply missed.

Meanwhile, NSCN (IM) General Secretary, Th Muivah expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of the NMA president, describing her as an iconic woman whose soft-spoken nature and gracious personality had won the admiration of many.
Muivah said Vilanuo Angela Yhome had served civil society organisations in various capacities and devoted herself to the upliftment of women and the welfare of the Naga people. He noted that she not only believed in the rights of the Nagas but dedicated her heart and soul to the cause throughout her life.
Stating that her passing was an irreparable loss not only to her family but to the entire Naga community, Muivah said she had lived an exemplary life of sacrifice and service that would remain etched in Naga history. He prayed that Almighty God grant strength and solace to the bereaved family and eternal peace to her departed soul.

In a condolence message, the Naga Hoho said Yhome was an educationist, champion of women’s rights, grassroots community worker and a pillar of the Church at the local, regional and national levels. The apex tribal body stated that her dedication to promoting peace, justice, reconciliation and human dignity was unwavering, adding that she served as a mother figure to younger generations through both her work with the Naga Mothers’ Association and her personal and community life.
The Naga Hoho said her passing has left a huge void in the socio-political fabric of Naga society that would not be easily filled. It conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, expressing hope that they would find comfort in her enduring legacy of service, which it said would continue to enrich and inspire not only the Naga people but many others beyond.
Offering prayers for the departed leader, the Naga Hoho said it joined the family and the people in mourning the loss of “a friend, mother and leader,” and prayed that God grant her eternal rest.
The KUDAWHI Union, Dimapur also expressed profound grief over the passing of the NMA president, describing her as a compassionate leader whose unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Naga people, particularly women, had left an indelible mark on society.
The Union said her dedicated service and tireless efforts earned her respect across all sections of society and that her legacy would continue to inspire future generations. It conveyed sincere condolences to her family, the Naga Mothers’ Association and all those mourning her loss, while praying that God grant them strength, comfort and peace during this difficult time.
