The Anatongre Students’ Union (ASU) observed its annual Village Cleaning Day on August 3 continuing a tradition that has been upheld for the past two decades. This year’s programme was organized on the theme, “Clean Village, Healthy Life,” with enthusiastic participation from students and villagers, reflecting their shared commitment to building a cleaner, healthier, and stronger community.

Following the cleaning drive, a social work programme and church service were held. Speaking on the occasion, SJ Limsuthong, Sanitary Inspector, elaborated on the theme “Clean Village, Healthy Life,” highlighting the importance of maintaining cleanliness in everyday life. He emphasized that a clean community begins with a clean home and encouraged every household to take responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean.

Concluding his address, Limsuthong quoted Mahatma Gandhi, saying, “So long as you do not take the broom and the bucket in your hands, you cannot make your towns and cities clean,” reminding everyone that collective action and personal responsibility are essential for creating a clean and healthy environment.
