The August meeting of the Pughoboto Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) was held on August 6, at the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Pughoboto, chaired by Dr Sukhato A Sema, MLA and Chairman, SDPDB Pughoboto.

Chairing the proceedings, ADC and Vice-Chairman, James T Khulu, NCS, welcomed members and introduced the newly elected Vice-Chairman of the Pughoboto Adhoc Town Council, Er L Kisheto L Swu, and Vice-President of Sumi Apuyemi Hoho, Vihuto Sheqi, to the House.

The House reviewed and confirmed the minutes of the previous SDPDB meeting before taking up several developmental agendas.

On the issue of financial assistance for the maintenance of the Pughoboto Helipad, the Board considered a proposal submitted by the Bible Society of India, Pughoboto Branch. Acknowledging the organization’s commendable efforts in maintaining the helipad, approach road, sanitation, and surrounding areas, the House resolved to approach the concerned department for necessary support, recognizing the helipad’s significance as a tourist attraction and public asset.

The Board also deliberated on the Town Cemetery land, which had reportedly been reclaimed by the original land donors after being earlier allocated to the district administration. The House constituted a two-member committee comprising the Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Pughoboto Headquarters, and the Personal Assistant (PA) to the Deputy Commissioner to study the issue and submit a detailed report for further action.

The proposal for construction of an amphitheatre at Pughoboto Headquarter was also approved for recommendation to the Government. The project was viewed as having potential to promote and preserve local culture and identity, foster unity and provide a platform for public engagement.

The Board further discussed Grant-in-Aid to private schools, particularly Pughoboto Mission School and New Foundation School, and agreed to recommend the proposal to the concerned department in recognition of their contribution to education in the sub-division.

Another major proposal approved for recommendation was the construction of a football ground at Asukiqa, with the Board noting its potential to strengthen sports infrastructure, promote grassroots talent and encourage greater participation in sports.

During the departmental presentation, the Department of Power presented its activities, ongoing schemes and achievements through a PowerPoint presentation. The Board appreciated the presentation and entrusted the Department of Soil and Water Conservation, through the Junior Soil Conservation Officer, Pughoboto, to make the departmental presentation at the next meeting.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the Chair, reaffirming the Board’s commitment to advancing infrastructure, education, sports, cultural development, and public welfare initiatives across Pughoboto Sub-Division.
