An old kutcha house belonging to Wochamo Ngullie was damaged following incessant rainfall in Wokha town early Friday morning. The house, located adjacent to NH-2 (formerly NH-61) at Etsutchukha Colony, was reportedly accommodating a family; fortunately, the occupants were away on summer vacation at the time of the incident.

Residents informed that a vehicle parked along the roadside had slipped during the downpour but did not make contact with the house. Local volunteers quickly gathered at the site and managed to move the vehicle to safety.

Nongothung Ngullie, a resident living directly below the incident site, stated that the mudslide took place at around 3:50 a.m. Officials from the Wokha district administration inspected the affected area later the same day to assess the extent of damage and ensure public safety, while residents have been urged to remain cautious during the ongoing monsoon season.

Meanwhile, multiple mudslides were reported in parts of Elumyo and Humtso villages under Wokha district on August 7, following heavy rainfall the previous night.

Road connectivity to Elumyo village was completely blocked, leaving residents unable to access the district headquarters. The disruption has posed challenges in transporting medical emergencies and essential commodities.
