Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) President Mteisuding said the Federation has decided to object to and boycott the revised version of Vande Mataram, citing concerns related to its faith and beliefs.

Speaking to media at the 80th Naga Independence Commemoration, Mteisuding clarified that the NSF was not opposed to national songs or symbols of any country, but said its objection was specifically based on what it considers a contradiction with Naga Christian beliefs.

He said the NSF has advised Naga students not to participate in the Indian Independence Day celebrations on August 15, reiterating the federation’s position on the issue.

Mteisuding also called on Naga political groups to stop recruiting non-Nagas into the Naga political movement. He urged political groups that have non-Naga members in positions of responsibility to review their involvement and relieve them of such assignments.

Expressing concern over the proliferation of Naga political groups, the NSF president said Nagas have “one destination, one goal and one objective” and urged all political groups to set aside differences and come together as one entity.

He said the Naga political movement should work towards a common solution rather than pursuing separate approaches.

Mteisuding said the NSF would continue to raise issues it considers important to the Naga cause and called on all Naga political groups to unite and work collectively towards a common political solution.

“A solution is only one,” he said, urging the Naga political groups to come together as one entity.
