Kohima honours outstanding educators at District Teachers’ Award ceremony

The Office of the District Education Officer (DEO), Kohima, held the Kohima District Teachers’ Award Ceremony 2026 on September 3 at the Capital Convention Centre, New Secretariat, Kohima. The event was organized to recognize and felicitate exemplary educators from across the district for their dedication and outstanding service to school education.

Dr Pritpal Kaur, IPS, DIGP (CID), Police Headquarters, Kohima graced the occasion as the Special Guest. In her address, she lauded the selfless contributions of teachers in mentoring youth, instilling discipline, and building the foundation of society.

The official proceeding was compered by Neisalhoukhono of GHS Phezoucha and commenced with an invocation led by Imtisangla, Sr SDEO, Kohima. Emilo Patton, District Education Officer, Kohima, delivered the welcome address, extending warm wishes to all attendees and honorees. Special song was presented by the Students of Regimental School, 4th NAP, Thizama and Rangbey Khoubve of GHS Bayavü.

An “Ode to Teachers” delivered by Tongchingsangla of GHS Chandmari while Honouring of Teachers was done St. Luke School.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to four selected educators for the Kohima District Teacher’s Award 2026: Dr. Kikruneinuo Kuotsu – Graduate Teacher (GT), GHS Chandmari; Khriengusano Peseyie – Assistant Teacher (Tenyidie), Baptist Mission School, Jotsoma; Akali Aye – Headmistress, Regimental School, 4th NAP, Thizama; and Thejazelie Tase – Graduate Teacher (GT), GHS Nerhema Model.

Speaking on behalf of all the recipients, awardee Akali Aye expressed heartfelt gratitude to the department and school communities for the recognition and support throughout their teaching careers.

The ceremony formally concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Visasielie Suhu, SDEO, Chiephobozou.
