The Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM) 2026 examination was conducted successfully at Don Bosco Hr Sec School, Kohima on September 6 with 29 students from three schools appearing for the examination.
The examination was organised by the Examination Committee of Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School, Kohima, in collaboration with the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM) under the Mathematical Olympiad Programme leading to the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).
Students from Don Bosco Hr Sec School, Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, Kohima, and Kendriya Vidyalaya participated in the examination. Of the 29 candidates, 22 students were from Don Bosco Hr Sec School, Kohima.
The IOQM is the first stage of the Indian Mathematical Olympiad Programme, providing talented students an opportunity to progress through successive stages and ultimately compete for selection to represent India at the International Mathematical Olympiad.
The examination was conducted under the prescribed examination protocols, with arrangements made for seating, invigilation, examination materials, attendance and security. An authorised IOQM Representative was also present at the centre to monitor the conduct of the examination and oversee the examination materials.

Sharing her experience, Kekhriezhanuo Rutsa of Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, Kohima, who appeared for the examination for the first time, said that the experience was valuable in strengthening her mathematical foundation.
“Honestly, this examination helped me a lot, especially by building up knowledge from the basic Mathematics,” she said.
Avina Zhimo of Don Bosco Hr Sec School, Kohima, described the examination as challenging and intellectually stimulating. “IOQM examination was definitely a tricky test for me, with various questions varying from algebra to geometry to many more usages of mathematics tricks and rules. Appearing for this examination helped me sharpen and widen my intellect of mathematics,” she said.
