The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a four-day weather outlook for all districts from September 8 to 11, forecasting thunderstorms, lightning and varying intensity of rainfall across the State, with a High Alert issued for four districts on September 11.
On September 8, thunderstorm/lightning accompanied by moderate to heavy rain is expected in Tseminyu, Wokha and Zunheboto. Thunderstorms with light to moderate rain are likely in Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Niuland, Noklak, Peren, Phek, Shamator and Tuensang, while Kiphire, Meluri and Mon may experience thunderstorms/lightning with light rain.
On September 9, thunderstorms/lightning with light rain are forecast in Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Niuland, Peren, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto. Thunderstorm/lightning risk has been indicated for Kiphire, Meluri and Mon, while Noklak is likely to receive light rain.
For September 10, thunderstorm/lightning risk is forecast for Noklak, Phek, Tseminyu and Zunheboto, while Kohima and Tuensang may receive thunderstorms with light rain. Light rain is expected in Chumoukedima, Niuland and Peren. Cloudy or overcast conditions are likely in several other districts.
The situation is expected to intensify on September 11, when the NSDMA has placed Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon and Wokha under High Alert, forecasting thunderstorms/lightning with scattered heavy rain. Tseminyu is likely to receive moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Thunderstorms with light to moderate rain are expected in Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Niuland and Tuensang, while light rain is forecast for Kohima, Noklak, Peren, Phek and Shamator. Kiphire and Meluri are likely to remain cloudy, while Zunheboto may receive light to moderate rain.
The four-day cumulative rainfall outlook also points to significant rainfall in several districts. Mokokchung is expected to record the highest cumulative rainfall at 113.74 mm, followed by Wokha (113.14 mm), Longleng (101.82 mm), Tseminyu (94.27 mm), Mon (78.14 mm), Tuensang (68.01 mm), Kohima (66.23 mm), Dimapur (65.98 mm) and Niuland (63.65 mm).
The NSDMA advised the public to regularly monitor weather updates through the Safer Nagaland mobile application and NSDMA Weather Portal, follow official advisories and exercise caution during thunderstorms and periods of heavy rainfall.
Motorists have also been advised to exercise caution while travelling, particularly along vulnerable and landslide-prone stretches, in view of the possibility of deteriorating road conditions and reduced visibility.
